Lekki Port receives first vessel
Lekki Port management last week witnessed the arrival of the first vessel to berth at the port.
The vessel, Zhen Hua 28, brought 3 Ship to Shore cranes and 10 Rubber Tyre Gantries for use in the container terminal.
The cranes, which are described by Lekki Port management as the most sophisticated port equipment, will be used for the first time in Nigeria at Lekki Port, putting Nigeria at the forefront of container operations in West Africa.
According to Lekki Port, “today marks the beginning of repositioning Nigeria in the African maritime sector.
‘Kudos to our promoters and shareholders, China Harbor Engineering Company, Tolaram, Lagos State Government and Nigerian Ports Authority.”
